The fundamental responsibility of a modern CEO is to define and embody the company’s culture and vision. It is from this foundation that all the other objectives are fulfilled – strategy, employee engagement, customer success, stakeholder contentment, revenue, profit….
The workforce is becoming more disparate because of a rise in freelancers, remote workers, gig and crowd workers and is also far more diverse with up to five generations working alongside each other – from Baby Boomers to Gen Zs. The traditional employer/employee relationship is being disrupted and creating a compelling culture that resonates with all has never been more difficult. The behaviours and values of a business are now far greater drivers in attracting and retaining talent, so delivering a strong, inspiring vision is key to success and growth.

Adam Rubins – CEO, Way to Blue
Adam has extensive leadership experience and has held CEO positions for over 10 years. As CEO of the award winning integrated communications agency Way to Blue, he has managed the acquisition and integration of a number of businesses and is passionate about the importance of creating a culture across the business that is inclusive and inspiring. Adam is also an advisor for the BAME 2020 Committee, responsible for driving greater diversity in the media, has also been involved with mental health initiatives and is an ambassador for Action for Children.
Duncan Cheatle – CEO, Learn Amp / Chairman, The Supper Club
Duncan is the founder/CEO of Learn Amp an Employee Experience Platform which makes it easy to drive higher effectiveness and longer retention and has been named best in class globally for the last two years. Duncan has spent nearly 20 years championing UK enterprise, In 2003 he set up The Supper Club, now home to nearly 500 of Britain’s most innovative, high growth entrepreneurs. He also sits on the Chartered Management Institute’s Board of Companions. Previously Duncan co-founded StartUp Britain, launched by the Prime Minister in March 2011.
Tom Baigrie – CEO, Lifesearch
Tom Baigrie is the founder and CEO of LifeSearch which he started in 1998 and is now the largest protection intermediary in the UK with 500 employees. Tom and LifeSearch have seen more than 85 industry judging panels deem them the best at what they do, but the award that Tom is proudest of is LifeSearch’s third place in the ‘Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For’ listing and that the whole business talks about their values of Care, Tolerance, Openness, Honesty and Excellence about five times more than they talk about profit.
Amanda Meyrick – CEO, Clarion Communications (WPP)
Amanda Meyrick has over 20 years’ experience at the helm of multi award-winning PR consultancy, Clarion Communications. Her clients include Aldi, Unilever and Diageo. She has worked very hard to create a positive company culture and can give tangible examples of how CEOs can do this in their own businesses. She is passionate about creating an enjoyable working environment and strongly believes happy staff generate the best work for clients.
